The Geospatial Health Group explores human health and disease patterns in a wider geographical context. The focus is on contemporary environmental and socioeconomic determinants of health. The priority is to address the future challenges of environmental change and assess how adaptation and mitigation strategies can help to create fair and healthy places. Our research is supported by the development of advanced geospatial methods to harvest and improve emerging information sources and explore spatial patterns of disease and wellbeing.
The Geospatial Health Group also undertakes methodological research based around geographical information systems (GIS) to develop state-of-the-art techniques for modelling the interactions between environment, population and health. We offer training at both introductory and advanced level.
